Equipment

No equipment required.

  1. Bodyweight hip hinge.
  2. Stand with feet hip-width, knees softly bent and hands resting on hips.
  3. Push the hips backward while the straight neutral torso tilts forward to around 45–60 degrees from vertical; return upright by bringing the hips forward.
  4. Shins stay nearly vertical, spine neutral, neck aligned; this is a hinge rather than a deep knee squat.
  5. Shoes stay planted and identical.

Choose a comfortable range and use secure equipment. The illustration is a movement reference; stop if a movement causes pain.
